PROJECT 96 is a Footy and Co project: an independent encyclopedia and data playground for all things Major League Soccer, from the first kick in 1996 to this weekend's fixtures. It is not affiliated with the league, its clubs or the players' union, and it exists for one reason: to help the game keep growing.

Soccer in North America grows when its history is easy to find, fun to argue about and free to share. Everything here is built so a brand-new fan and a season-ticket holder since 1996 can both lose an afternoon in it.

Every number is counted, never typed, and cross-checked before it appears. Where the record is thin, the page says so instead of filling the gap. Corrections are welcome.
